No. 2 UM-Dearborn tops CUAA 4-1 to earn sweep

CHELSEA, Mich. – The No. 2 University of Michigan-Dearborn men's hockey team completed a series sweep of Concordia University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at the Arctic Coliseum.

The Wolverines took a 4-1 lead into the third period and the score held the rest of the way as UM-Dearborn improved to 20-2-1 overall and 5-1 in the WHAC.

The ninth straight victory for the Wolverines started with an early goal just over a minute into the contest, as Zach Nichols made it 1-0 off a feed from Billy Brock. UM-Dearborn added two more goals before the break, as Tyler Groat scored twice to move his season total to 29.

Kevin Bechard added a power-play goal in the second before the Cardinals broke up the shutout late for the second straight game.

Thomas Proudlock was back in net and earned his 18th win of the season. The junior made 25 saves as the Wolverines outshot the Cardinals 59-26

UM-Dearborn puts its nine-game winning streak on the line against No. 3 Adrian College at 7:15 pm Thursday at the Arrington Ice Arena in Adrian, Mich.
