No. 12 UM-Dearborn Completes Road Sweep of No. 9 RMU

BENSENVILLE, Ill. – The No. 12 University of Michigan-Dearborn men's hockey team completed a series sweep of the No. 9 Robert Morris University-Illinois Eagles on Saturday at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Ill.

The Wolverines scored in each of the three periods, defeating the Eagles 5-2, to improve to 3-1 on the season.

In the first period, Kevin Bechard got the scoring started to give the Wolverines the early lead off assists from Troy Saunders and Justin Dunn. After RMU tied it up at one, Saunders added a goal of his own with the man-advantage to put UM-Dearborn back on top.

The Wolverines would not relinquish the lead for the rest of the night. Conor Cunningham scored the eventual game-winning goal before Tyler Groat and Bechard put the game out of reach in the third.

Bechard led the offense with two goals, while Saunders added a goal and an assist. The Wolverines also had multi-point efforts from Andrew Spiegel and Michael Hodgson, who both finished with two assists.

Thomas Proudlock was in goal for UM-Dearborn, earning his third victory of the season.

The Wolverines return to action against Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe Aquinas College at 7 pm next Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Southside Ice Arena in Byron Center, Mich.
