Five Wolverines score twice in 14-1 win

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's hockey team extended its winning streak to eight games after defeating Concordia University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup on Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

The No. 2 Wolverines took control early on their way to a 14-1 victory over the Cardinals. The win pushes UM-Dearborn to 19-2-1 overall and 4-1-0 in the WHAC.

Goals from Billy Brock, Andrew Spiegel, and Mathieu Laforest made it 3-0 before the six-minute mark of the first. The Wolverines added one more goal in the first, six in the second and four in the third before the Cardinals got on the board to end the shutout bid for UM-Dearborn goaltender Jordan Gilbert. Gilbert recorded 21 saves in his third start to improve to 2-0-0 on the season.

Brock and Spiegel led the way offensively with two goals and two assists each. Justin Dunn and John Barlow each scored two goals and added an assist, while Kevin Bechard recorded two goals. Tyler Dalton finished with three assists.

The Wolverines look for the sweep against Concordia University at 7 pm tomorrow at the Arctic Coliseum in Ann Arbor, Mich.
