DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team is set to open the first round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament against the University of Northwestern Ohio at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Lima, Ohio.

Earlier Thursday, the WHAC announced its postseason awards, naming several Wolverines to All-Conference teams. Jason Penn (JR/Detroit, MI) and Marcus Williams (SR/Lagos, Nigeria) were both named to the All-WHAC First Team, while Cody Kegley (FR/Yale, MI) was named to the All-Freshman Team. Penn also picked up All-Defensive Team recognition.

Penn, who recently eclipsed 1,000-career points, finished second on the team in scoring with 14.9 points per game, while grabbing a team-best 7.2 rebounds. Penn also led the team in field-goal percentage at 60.9 percent, good enough for 17th in the NAIA, while playing in all 30 games for the Wolverines in 2016-17. On the defensive end, Penn had a team-high 48 blocks, to go along with 18 steals. Last season, Penn was named to the All-WHAC team as an Honorable Mention, along with Williams.

Williams was named to the All-WHAC First Team for the first time after a remarkable regular season in his senior year. Williams led the Wolverines in scoring with 17.2 points per game, while starting all 30 contests. He hit a team-high 77 shots from behind the 3-point line. Williams was also a force on the defensive end, blocking 40 shots, including a WHAC-record seven against Concordia University in a game earlier this season. Williams was second on the team in rebounds with 6.4 per game and second in total assists with 63.

Kegley was a key contributor to the Wolverines over the course of the season, providing an offensive threat from the outside, while making hustle plays all over the court. He finished the season averaging 6.8 points per game, while finishing second the team with 47 made 3-pointers and was tied for the team lead in steals with 34.

Earning WHAC All-Academic Team honors for the Wolverines was Hassan Doghman (SO/Dearborn, MI), while Jeff Cain (SR/Lansing, MI ) was named the UM-Dearborn representative on the WHAC Champion of Character Team.
