Wolverine Men Defeat Siena Heights, extend win streak to 5

ADRIAN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team won its fifth straight game and eighth in its last nine, defeating Siena Heights University 72-66 in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference showdown Saturday in Adrian, Mich.

The victory capped off a successful week for the Wolverines as they improve to 16-7 on the season and 10-5 in the WHAC.

The first half came to a close with the Wolverines holding a two-point lead, and it was more of the same back-and-forth action in the second half. A Jeff Cain (SR/Lansing, MI ) layup with just under four minutes remaining tied the game up at 61 and started a 13-5 run for the Wolverines to finish the contest.

Marcus Williams (SR/Lagos, Nigeria) led the way with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Jason Penn (JR/Detroit, MI) pitched in with 16 points and seven rebounds. Cody Kegley (FR/Yale, MI) scored 11 points for the Wolverines off the bench, highlighted by his 3-for-3 performance from long range.

The Wolverines shot 26-for-59 from the field, 9-of-23 from deep and 11-for-17 from the free-throw line.

Siena Heights was led by Nick Randle with 22 points. The home team shot 22-for-56 from the field, 11-of-25 from behind the 3-point line and 11-14 from the line.

The Wolverines are back in action as they travel to Indiana Tech (RV) to take on the Warriors in a WHAC conference matchup at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Fort Wayne, Ind.
