GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team lost its second consecutive game after dropping a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match to Cornerstone University Wednesday in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Golden Eagles dominated the second half and defeated the Wolverines 83-54. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 17-10 overall and 11-8 in the WHAC.

UM-Dearborn caught fire in the opening minutes as they took a commanding 10-0 lead just two minutes into the game. Cornerstone bounced back and chipped away throughout the first half, eventually taking a three-point lead at the break. Cornerstone controlled the second half from the start, pulling away for the win.

Jason Penn (JR/Detroit, MI) and Ashton Curd (JR/Detroit, MI) each scored 10 points to lead the Wolverines, while Marcus Williams (SR/Lagos, Nigeria) strung together a pair of three-pointers early in the game and finished with six points on the night.

UM-Dearborn shot 19-for-55 from the field, 7-of-26 from deep and capitalized on 9-of-13 free throws that were all taken in the second half.

Five Cornerstone players ended the night in the double digits, led by Kyle Steigenga with 17 points and nine rebounds. The Golden Eagles shot 32-of-61 from the field, 6-of-23 from behind the 3-point line and 13-of-18 from the line.

The Wolverines play their final regular season road game at Madonna University at 3 p.m. Saturday in Livonia, Mich.
