Early LTU run downs UM-Dearborn in WHAC tourney

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team dropped its opening round game of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament to Lawrence Tech Wednesday in Southfield, Mich.

The Blue Devils rushed out to an early lead, outscoring the Wolverines 21-7 in the first quarter. UM-Dearborn rallied in the second half, cutting a once 20-point deficit to 10, but LTU held on in the fourth for a 63-50 win.

The 2019-20 season ends for the Wolverines with a record of 17-14, the second-most wins in program history.

Mariah Taylor, who was named to the All-WHAC Second Team on Wednesday, led the Wolverines with 16 points off the bench. Senior Sade Lemons closed her final game with nine points, giving her 976 in her career.

Cydney Williams added eight points and nine rebounds, while Rachel Bause added a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 19-of-66 from the field, 5-of-24 from deep and 7-of-13 from the line.

LTU was led by 22 points and 11 rebounds from Kendall Fisher.
