Titans top Wolverines 76-74 in OT

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2019-20 season at Indiana University-South Bend Saturday in South Bend, Ind.

After the Titans (6-0) took an early 11-point lead in the first, the No. 22 Wolverines rallied and neither team was able to build more than a five-point lead from late in the first on. After IU-SB took a late 64-63 lead, freshman Rachel Bause came through with a clutch hook shot to give UM-Dearborn a one-point advantage with 49 seconds left in regulation.

Courtney Haynes split a pair of free throws with 22 seconds left to tie the score, and UM-Dearborn missed a game-winning attempt in the final seconds to set up overtime.

Mariah Taylor scored six points for UM-Dearborn in the extra frame, but it was not enough as the Titans held off the Wolverines 76-74. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 4-1 to start the season.

Laekyn Jaciuk finished with a team-high 14 points for the Wolverines, while Taylor added 13 points and six rebounds off the bench. Ro'Zhane Wells added 12 points, five assists and four steals in the loss.

UM-Dearborn shot 27-of-68 from the field, 8-of-26 from deep and 12-of-15 from the line while losing the rebounding battle 43-30.

Haynes led the Titans with 20 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

The Wolverines travel to Thomas More University at 6 pm next Saturday in Crestview, Ky.
