Williams career night leads UM-Dearborn over CUAA

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team won its third consecutive Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest, topping Concordia University Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

UM-Dearborn scored the final eight points of the first half to build an 11-point lead at the break, while Cydney Williams scored 20 points in the final 20 minutes to push UM-Dearborn to an 83-69 win. The victory moves the Wolverines to 16-11 overall and 9-8 in the WHAC.

Williams was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field and 3-of-3 from deep in the fourth quarter to keep UM-Dearborn in the lead throughout the second half. She finished with a career-high 27 points, including six 3-pointers, while adding five rebounds.

Mariah Taylor, the reigning UM-Dearborn Player of the Week, led the UM-Dearborn offense in the first half with 13 of her 19 points before the break. Taylor added five assists, four rebounds, and two steals.

Sade Lemons scored 11 points, with three 3-pointers off the bench, while Ro'Zhane Wells filled the stat sheet with seven points, eight assists, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Rachel Bause led UM-Dearborn on the glass with 12 rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 30-of-65 from the field, 15-of-36 from deep and 8-of-11 at the line, while outrebounding the Cardinals 40-32.

Concordia was led by 17 points from Tris'styn Williams.

UM-Dearborn remains home to host the University of Northwestern Ohio at 1 pm Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
