No. 22 UM-Dearborn rolls to 94-48 win over Lakers

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team took care of business against Wright State University-Lake Campus in the 2019-20 home opener Friday afternoon at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

No. 22 UM-Dearborn forced 17 first-half turnovers and jumped out to a 53-20 lead at the half on its way to a 94-48 win over the Lakers. The win keeps the Wolverines perfect on the season at 3-0.

Junior Maricela Macias led the UM-Dearborn offense in her first home game for the Wolverines, scoring 16 points and hitting four 3-pointers off the bench. She added six rebounds and three steals.

Cydney Williams finished with 14 points and three 3-pointers, while Rachel Bause added 12 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks. Lauryn Carroll also filled the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Jasia Caldwell finished with eight points, eight rebounds, and four steals.

The Wolverines shot 37-79 from the field, 12-of-28 from deep and 8-of-13 at the line, while finishing with 21 assists, 16 steals and 15 turnovers.

The Lakers were led by Mallory Barnes with 12 points.

UM-Dearborn has a week off before traveling to Bethel University at 4 pm next Friday in Mishawaka, Ind.
