Wells, Taylor pick up WHAC honors

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team is set to open the 2020 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament and the Wolverines picked up several league awards, it was announced Thursday.

For the second straight year, junior point guard Ro'Zhane Wells was named to the All-WHAC First Team and Defensive Team, while junior Mariah Taylor was named to the All-WHAC Second Team.

Wells, from Ypsilanti, Mich., is having another outstanding season for the Wolverines, averaging 12 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game, as she has filled up the stat sheet all year.

Taylor provided UM-Dearborn with added offensive power in her first season with the team. She averaged a team-high 12.7 points per game, hitting a team-high 56 shots from deep. Taylor has added 3.8 rebounds per game.

Junior Kayla Knight was named the UM-Dearborn Champion of Character for the first time in her career.

The Wolverines begin play at the WHAC Postseason Tournament as the No. 6 seed at No. 3 seeded Lawrence Tech at 7:30 pm Wednesday at the Don Ridler Fieldhouse in Southfield, Mich.
