Wolverines earn upset over No. 14 Saints in OT

ADRIAN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team picked up a big Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win, upsetting No. 14 Siena Heights University in overtime Saturday in Adrian, Mich.

The Wolverines led by 10 with under eight minutes remaining in the second half, but the Saints rallied to tie the score at 65-65 with 1:40 left in regulation. Neither team was able to score the rest of the way, setting up overtime.

UM-Dearborn found a pair of big 3-pointers in the extra frame, the first from Mariah Taylor to put the Wolverines up 70-67 with 1:43 left in overtime. After SHU tied the score, Sade Lemons hit the game-winner from deep with 24 seconds left to secure a 75-70 win. The victory moves UM-Dearborn to 15-11 overall and 8-8 in the WHAC with four games remaining in the regular season.

Ro'Zhane Wells led the Wolverines with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting, adding eight rebounds, eight assists and five steals. Taylor scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers off the bench, while Lemons finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 26-of-70 from the field, 13-of-31 from deep and 10-of-18 at the line, while narrowly outrebounding the Saints 47-46.

SHU was led by a game-high 25 points from Peyton Banks, who added 10 rebounds for a double-double.

The Wolverines return home for three straight starting against Concordia University at 5:30 pm Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
