Carroll scores 24 in Wolverine win at Bethel

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team continued its perfect start to the season in the first true road game of 2019-20 at Bethel College Friday in Mishawaka, Ind.

The No. 22 Wolverines led by 10 at the half and withstood a rally from the Pilots in the third, outscoring Bethel 20-10 in the fourth to earn an 89-67 win, moving to 4-0 to start the season.

Lauryn Carroll had a big game, scoring a career-high 24 points to lead the Wolverines. She was 9-of-16 from the field and made three 3-pointers. Mariah Taylor scored 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting, adding three 3-pointers and six rebounds, while Ro'Zhane Wells added 13 points and six rebounds.

Jasia Caldwell controlled the glass for the Wolverines, pulling down 12 rebounds to go along with her six points, while Maricela Macias added nine points off the bench.

UM-Dearborn shot 36-of-88 from the field, 11-of-41 from deep and 6-of-8 from the line. The Wolverines finished with 18 assists and 13 turnovers, while forcing 25 Pilot turnovers.

Bethel was led by Catlyn Mulligan with 14 points and four 3-pointers.

UM-Dearborn remains in the Hoosier state to take on Indiana University-South Bend at 1 pm Saturday in South Bend, Ind.
