Wolverines earn WHAC win 81-60 over Crusaders

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team hosted a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest against Madonna University Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

UM-Dearborn jumped out to a 10-point lead after the first to take control and led from the opening to closing whistle, led by five Wolverines in double figures in an 81-60 victory. The win pushes UM-Dearborn to 11-7 overall and 4-4 in the WHAC as the Wolverines look to keep pace in a close league race.

Mariah Taylor paced the Wolverine offense with 19 points on 8-of-20 shooting. Ro'Zhane Wells nearly completed a triple-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, while Sade Lemons added three -3-pointers to finish with 14 points.

Lauryn Carroll finished with 11 points off the bench, while Cydney Williams recorded a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

UM-Dearborn shot 28-of-64 from the field, 12-of-31 from deep and 13-of-22 at the line, while outrebounding Madonna 48-29.

Sydney Brown and Victoria Guardiola each scored 20 points to lead the Crusaders.

UM-Dearborn continues league play against the University of Northwestern Ohio at 3 pm Saturday in Lima, Ohio.
