Lawrence Tech holds off UM-Dearborn rally

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – For the second game in a row, the University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team attempted to erase a double-digit deficit on the road in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play, this time against No. 25 Lawrence Tech Saturday in Southfield, Mich.

The Wolverines trailed by as many as 23 against the Blue Devils but cut the LTU advantage to just one with three minutes to play. The UM-Dearborn offense stalled the rest of the way as the Blue Devils held on for a 62-59 win.

The loss snaps a four-game win streak for the Wolverines, who fall to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in the WHAC.

Ro'Zhane Wells led the Wolverines with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals, while Maricela Macias added 10 points off the bench. Mariah Taylor and Lauryn Carroll each finished with eight points, as Jasia Caldwell added a team-high seven rebounds and three blocks.  

The Wolverines shot 20-of-70 from the field, 5-of-30 from deep and 14-of-22 from the line.

Kendall Fisher led the Blue Devils with 19 points and came away with a steal late in the game to secure the win for LTU.

UM-Dearborn steps out of league play to host Ohio Christian University at 5:30 pm Thursday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
