UM-Dearborn rallies to top Aquinas on Senior Day

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team secured a home-court postseason game for the first time since the team joined the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference with a tough win over No. 25 Aquinas College Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

Seniors Jenna Rogers and Micah White were honored in a pregame Senior Day ceremony.

The Wolverines used a 10-0 run in the final three minutes to secure the win and erase a six-point deficit. Sade Lemons hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final minutes to push UM-Dearborn to the 47-45 win. UM-Dearborn closes the regular season 24-6 overall and 15-5 in the WHAC.

UM-Dearborn is in third place in the WHAC standings and will await the result of Aquinas' game against Lawrence Tech on Monday, which will determine final seeding for the WHAC Postseason Tournament.

Aquinas is now 15-4 in the WHAC and in second place. A Saint loss to LTU on Monday would create a 3-way tie for second between UM-Dearborn, Aquinas and Siena Heights University. The Wolverines are 4-0 this season in four total games against Aquinas and SHU.

Lemons led the Wolverines with 18 points, including eight in the fourth quarter to propel the UM-Dearborn rally. Ro'Zhane Wells finished with eight points and seven rebounds, while Jeorgia Jones added eight points. Kayla Knight recorded four blocks off the bench for UM-Dearborn.

The Wolverines shot 17-of-58 from the field, 7-of-24 from deep and 6-of-8 at the line.

Aquinas was led by Michaela Faber with 18 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

The Wolverines will host an opponent to be determined in the first round of the WHAC Postseason Tournament Wednesday evening at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
