Wolverines pull away for 72-56 win over Bulldogs

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team stepped out of league play for the final time in the regular season to defeat Wilberforce University Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The Wolverines took an 11-point lead into the half after a last second 3-pointer from Jenna Rogers and outscored the Bulldogs 26-15 in the third on their way to a 72-56 win. The victory moves UM-Dearborn (RV) to 23-6 overall on the season.

Senior Day is Saturday for the Wolverines as they host Aquinas College at 1 pm at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse. UM-Dearborn will lock up a home Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament first-round home game with a win over the Saints.

Against Wilberforce, the Wolverines were led by Sade Lemons with 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Cydney Williams finished with 10 points and six rebounds, while Jeorgia Jones narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Lauryn Carroll added eight points and four steals.

The Wolverines shot 22-of-58 from the field, 9-of-28 from deep and 19-of-25 from the line, while outrebounding the Bulldogs 35-30.

Wilberforce was led by Mustafa Notter with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
