UM-Dearborn Earns Five NAIA Scholar-Teams for 2017-18

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn Department of Athletics & Recreation is proud to announce that five UM-Dearborn programs were named NAIA Scholar-Teams for the 2017-18 academic year.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.

For the Wolverines, softball led the way with a 3.49 GPA for the year, while women's basketball was close behind with a team GPA of 3.35. Men's and women's cross country also earned the honor, along with the volleyball team.

The softball, volleyball, women's basketball and women's cross country teams have all won the award the last five consecutive years, while men's cross country has won it four out of the last five.
