Lemons named WHAC Player of the Week

DEARBORN, Mich. – For the first time since the 2014-15 season, the University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team picked up a conference weekly award, it was announced Monday.

The Wolverines are off to a 6-1 start and are 2-0 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference after a pair of impressive road wins last week. UM-Dearborn was led by junior Sade Lemons, who averaged 19 points in the two victories.

For her efforts, Lemons was named the WHAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the first time in her career. The award is the first for a UM-Dearborn women's basketball student-athlete since Jalissa Williams took the honor in 2014-15

In a road win to open WHAC play at Siena Heights University on Wednesday, Lemons scored a team-high 17 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds. The Sterling Heights, Mich., native followed up with 21 points, including five 3-pointers at Aquinas on Saturday.

Lemons is averaging a team-high 11.7 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds.

The Wolverines, now 2-0 in the WHAC for the first time in program history, open the home portion of the league schedule against the University of Northwestern Ohio at 5:30 pm Tuesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
