Second quarter push sends Wolverines to 87-51 win

LIVONIA, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team returned to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action and earned a convincing road win at Madonna University Wednesday in Livonia, Mich.

The No. 22 Wolverines dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 23-6 in the frame, pulling away for a fifth-straight win, 87-51. The victory pushes UM-Dearborn to 15-2 overall and 7-1 in the WHAC, moving the Wolverines one win from tying the program's season record.

Ro'Zhane Wells led the UM-Dearborn offense with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting while adding a perfect 6-of-6 night at the free-throw line. Sade Lemons hit three 3-pointers to finish with 12 points, while Lauryn Carroll added nine points and a pair of 3-pointers.

Four Wolverines finished with eight points, including reigning WHAC Player of the Week Jeorgia Jones, Vantane Garrett, Laekyn Jaciuk and Chloe Godbold. Micah White came off the bench to record a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 29-of-61 from the field, 11-of-26 from deep and 18-of-21 from the line while outrebounding Madonna 37-32.

The Crusaders were led by Sydney Brown with 17 points and six rebounds.

The Wolverines are set for a showdown with No. 6 Indiana Tech on Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse. UM-Dearborn will be playing for a share of first place in the WHAC as the league schedule approaches the half-way mark.
