Wolverines open WHAC 2-0 with road win at Aquinas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team remained unbeaten in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with a win over Aquinas College Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Wolverines took a 64-54 win to improve to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in the WHAC.

Leading the way offensively for the Wolverines was Sade Lemons with 21 points, which matches her career high. Lemons shot 8-for-20 from the field, including five 3-pointers. Natalie Spala came off the bench for UM-Dearborn and added 11 points and a team-leading three steals.

The Wolverines shot 20-for-66 from the field and 8-for-20 from deep, while finishing a perfect 16-for-16 from the line. UM-Dearborn finished with 14 turnovers and 12 assists, led by Ro'Zhane Wells and Laekyn Jaciuk with three assists each.

The Saints were led by Michaela Faber with 14 points and Bri Spica with seven.

UM-Dearborn continues WHAC play against the University of Northwestern Ohio at 5:30 pm Tuesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
