Wolverines hit 14 threes in win at Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team rolled to a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win over Cornerstone University Wednesday at the Mol Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Wolverines stormed out to a 24-point lead at the halftime break on their way to an 89-64 victory. The win pushes UM-Dearborn to 21-5 overall and 13-4 in the WHAC.

UM-Dearborn is in third place in the WHAC standings with three conference games left in the regular season. The Wolverines are a half game behind second-place Aquinas College, which had its game with Lawrence Tech scheduled for Wednesday postponed.

Five Wolverines finished in double figures, led by junior Sade Lemons with 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Lemons leads the Wolverines with 13.8 points per game.

Sophomore Lauryn Carroll finished with 16 points, while senior Jenna Rogers also scored 16 points with four 3-pointers, her highest scoring total in a game since her freshman season.  Junior Laekyn Jaciuk recorded 14 points and five assists, while junior Jeorgia Jones added 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

UM-Dearborn shot 31-of-68 from the field, 14-of-28 from deep and 13-of-14 from the line while recording 20 assists and five turnovers.

The Golden Eagles were led by Lexi Boven with 14 points.

The Wolverines return home for four games to close the regular season starting against Madonna University at 1 pm Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
