DEARBORN, Mich. -- The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced the 2024-25 Men's Ice Hockey All-Conference Awards on Thursday (Feb. 20). Bailey Byrd and Ryan Stanley each earned First Team All-Conference honors, while Head Coach Chris Haltinner was voted Champions of Character coach.
Byrd, a Junior winger from Wyandotte, Mich., is no stanger to the WHAC All-Conference teams. This is the third time in as many years Byrd has been voted All-Conference after winning Second Team & Newcomer of the Year during his freshman campaign, and followed that up with First-Team All-Conference and WHAC Player of the Year accolades. Byrd tallied 48 points this season on 21 goals and 27 assists. That mark places Byrd second in total points behind Cleary's Wes Smith. Byrd earned WHAC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season after recording seven or more points on each of the two weekends.
Stanley earned First Team honors in back-to-back seasons, solidifying him as one of the conference's best defensemen. The maestro of the Wolverines blue line averaged a point a game after tallying 24 points on six goals and 18 assists.
This marks Haltinner's second Champions of Character Coach award in as many years. His squad enters the upcoming WHAC Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed, taking on Rochester Christian on Friday (Feb. 21) at 5 p.m.
