Women's Basketball Ends the Season with a Win

Dearborn, MI - The women's basketball team ended the season with a convincing 73-52 win over the visiting Aquinas College Saints. Michigan-Dearborn (2-27, 2-20) ended the first quarter on an 8-2 run taking a 17-11 lead into the second quarter. Aquinas (8-21, 7-15) cut the Wolverines lead to two points early in the second quarter, but Michigan-Dearborn took control of the game after that. Sophomore Megan Swick scored 10 of her 12 first half points in the second quarter powering the Wolverines to a 42-27 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, Michigan-Dearborn continued to score as the lead grew to 20 points. Aquinas cut the lead to 16 points, but sophomore Marisa Sauve added a free throw and a late basket giving the Wolverines a 58-39 lead heading into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, Michigan-Dearborn maintained a lead over 20 points as four players finished the game scoring in double digits. Swick led the Wolverines with 17 points while Sauve had 16 points and 8 rebounds. Michigan-Dearborn shot 46% for the game while holding Aquinas to just 34% shooting.

The women's basketball team will look to carry this win into next season as the team is very young with no juniors or seniors on the roster. Swick led the team averaging 10.2 points per game on the season. Freshman Kendall Rose averaged 8.4 points per game and Sauve averaged 7.9 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game.
