Women's Basketball Falls to Lawrence Tech

Dearborn, MI - The women's basketball team hosted the 22nd ranked Lawrence Tech Blue Devils on Wednesday night. Lawrence Tech (11-1, 8-1) came out like the 22nd ranked team in the NAIA ending the first quarter on a 14-2 run giving them a 20-6 lead after one quarter. Michigan-Dearborn (0-16, 0-9) struggled to rebound the ball, especially in the first half. The Wolverines were outrebounded 29-13 in the first half and 50-31 for the game. The Blue Devils quickly built up a 20 point lead in the second quarter scoring 11 points in the first three minutes of the second quarter to lead by 20 points. Michigan-Dearborn could not chip away at the lead as Lawrence Tech took a 40-20 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Wolverines shot the ball better and played better defense, only allowing the Blue Devils to shoot 41% in the second half, but Michigan-Dearborn could not get the deficit below 17 points as Lawrence Tech would go on to win 72-46. Shooting once again plagued the Wolverines as the team shot 26% for the game. Sophomore Megan Swick led Michigan-Dearborn with 15 points while sophomore Marisa Sauve finished with 8 points and 6 rebounds. The women's basketball team will travel to Grand Rapids on Saturday and take on Aquinas College at 1:00pm.
