Concordia Defeats Women's Basketball

Dearborn, MI - A slow start for the women's basketball team put them in a large deficit which they could not overcome Saturday as they lost 69-51 to the Concordia University Cardinals. Michigan-Dearborn (0-15, 0-8) struggled early to score points and finished the first quarter scoring just five points. Concordia (9-5, 4-4) also did not shoot the ball well early as the Cardinals shot just 29% in the first half but still built up a 30-15 lead at halftime. The Cardinals crashed the boards hard and grabbed 10 offensive rebounds in the first half.

Concordia came out in the second half shooting the ball much better as the Cardinals doubled up the Wolverines 24-12 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 54-27. Michigan-Dearborn played a great fourth quarter scoring the game's final seven points but it was not enough as Concordia would go on to win the game 69-51. Freshman Kendall Rose led the Wolverines with 17 points and 11 rebounds in earning her first collegiate double-double. Sophomore Marisa Sauve scored 6 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss. The women's basketball team will next host the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils on Wednesday at 5:30pm.
