Women's Basketball Falls to Lourdes

Sylvania, OH - The women's basketball team lost to Lourdes University on Tuesday night 60-45. Michigan-Dearborn (0-7, 0-4) played great defense as Lourdes (3-5, 1-3) shot 34% for the game. The Wolverines played tough in the first half and trailed 32-28 at halftime. The biggest difference in the first half was free throws. Lourdes made 12 free throws in the first half missing just one, while Michigan-Dearborn made just 4 free throws in the first half while also just missing one free throw attempt.

In the second half, the Wolverines offense could not get going as Lourdes outscored Michigan-Dearborn 10-5 in the third quarter. Lourdes continued to apply pressure defensively causing 23 Michigan-Dearborn turnovers in winning 60-45. Lourdes outrebounded Michigan-Dearborn 47-33 including an 18-7 edge in offensive rebounds which led to 18 second chance points for Lourdes compared to zero for the Wolverines. Sophomore Ashley Sandelin led Michigan-Dearborn with 11 points. Freshman Jenna Rogers added 10 points. The women's basketball team travels to South Bend, Indiana Saturday to take on Indiana University South Bend at 1:00pm.
