Women's Basketball Almost Completes Comeback

Grand Rapids, MI - The women's basketball team had a slow start Saturday against the Cornerstone Golden Eagles and could not complete the comeback falling 68-45. Michigan-Dearborn (1-22, 1-15) scored only five points in the first quarter falling behind 19-5. In the second quarter, the Wolverines came out strong limiting Cornerstone (14-9, 12-4) to eight points while scoring 17 points of their own. At halftime Cornerstone led 27-22.

Early in the third quarter, sophomore Megan Swick sank a three-pointer to pull Michigan-Dearborn within two points. That would be as close as the Wolverines would get as the Golden Eagles would finish the third quarter on a 24-6 run and go on to win 68-45. Freshman Jenna Rogers led Michigan-Dearborn with 18 points while fellow freshman Kendall Rose scored 6 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The women's basketball team will return to Grand Rapids on Wednesday to take on the Davenport University Panthers at 5:30pm.
