Madonna Defeats Women's Basketball

Dearborn, MI - The women's basketball team hosted the Madonna University Crusaders on Wednesday night. Early on, things looked good for the Wolverines as freshman Kendall Rose sank a three-pointer giving Michigan-Dearborn an early 5-1 lead. Madonna (14-9, 14-5) then rattled off seven straight points to take a three point lead. Michigan-Dearborn (1-18, 1-25) would fight back and as the first quarter ended the Crusaders held a 16-15 lead. The two teams continued exchanging baskets and the lead in the second quarter until Madonna ended the quarter with five straight points and took a 36-29 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Madonna took control of the game. The Crusaders started the third quarter going on an 18-4 run and limited Michigan-Dearborn to nine points in the quarter. Th Wolverines were able to pull within 12 points in the fourth quarter but could not get any closer as Madonna would go on to win 69-53. Freshman Emily Heinrich led the Wolveirnes with 15 points while sophomore Marisa Sauve had 9 points and 18 rebounds. The women's basketball team will travel to Ann Arbor on Saturday to take on the Concordia University Cardinals at 1:00pm.
