Women's Basketball Falls to Roosevelt in Season Opener

Dearborn, MI - The women's basketball team opened up the 2015-16 season with a 79-56 loss to the Roosevelt University Lakers Friday night. Roosevelt opened the game with a 15-3 run, but the Wolverines would cut the lead to six points at the end of the first quarter 17-11. Roosevelt would keep the pressure on the during the second quarter opening up a ten point lead at halftime 37-27. Michigan-Dearborn shot 32% in the first half while Roosevelt shot 48% from the field.

The third quarter is when Roosevelt took control of the game. The Lakers ended the quarter with two consecutive three-pointers and held the Wolverines in check offensively allowing 14 points in the third quarter while opening up a 20 point lead. Roosevelt maintained a comfortable lead throughout the fourth quarter en route to a 79-56 victory. The Lakers shot 48% from the field for the game while holding the Wolverines to 31% shooting. Michigan-Dearborn was led by sophomore Megan Swick who scored 13 points while sophomore Marisa Sauve and freshman Kendall Rose each scored 10 points. The women's basketball team will head on the road Tuesday, November 10th to take on Goshen College at 6:00pm.
