No. 2 Madonna tops UM-Dearborn in WHAC action

LIVONIA, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse team continued Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play against No. 2 Madonna University Saturday in Livonia, Mich.

The Crusaders scored the first seven goals of the contest and pulled away for a 19-4 win over the Wolverines. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the WHAC.

Madonna improves to 16-0 overall and 4-0 in the WHAC in the program's second year of competition. Cole Gingell, the nation's leader in goals, scored seven times in the contest, leading the Crusaders.

Devon Callaghan (JR/Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) led the Wolverines with two goals on 10 shots, while Adam Ranck (FR/West Bloomfield, Mich.) and Micah Rinke (SO/Plymouth, Mich.) each added a goal. Rinke and Matthew Rosteck (SR/Commerce Township, Mich.) each finished with one assist, while Chad Reynolds (FR/South Elgin, Ill.) added a team-high five ground balls.

Liam Turner (SO/Ann Arbor, Mich.) got the start in net for UM-Dearborn, making eight saves, while Jon Chaffee (SO/Hartland, Mich.) added 10 saves in relief.

The Wolverines continue WHAC play against (RV) Lourdes University at 7 pm Wednesday in Sylvania, Ohio.
