Wolverines led to win by six from Callaghan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Sophomore Devon Callaghan (JR/Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) led the offensive attack for the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse team in the first half of a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win over Concordia University Wednesday in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Despite the snow falling, UM-Dearborn opened the game on fire on the offensive end, building a 9-2 lead at the break. Concordia rallied in the second half, but it was not enough as the Wolverines held on for a 12-8 win, snapping a four-game skid.

The win moves UM-Dearborn to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the WHAC.

Callaghan matched his season high with six goals, including four in the first half, while adding four assists. Callaghan leads the Wolverines with 30 goals on the season.

Matthew Rosteck (SR/Commerce Township, Mich.) and Adam Ranck (FR/West Bloomfield, Mich.) added two goals each for UM-Dearborn, while Colin DeWitt (FR/South Lyon, Mich.) and Justin Brodzik (JR/Canton, Mich.) added one each.

The Wolverines outshot the Cardinals 34-29, while winning 15-of-23 face offs. UM-Dearborn secured 24 ground balls to 17 from Concordia.

UM-Dearborn continues WHAC play against No. 5 Siena Heights University at 6 pm Saturday in Adrian, Mich.
