ANN ARBOR, Mich. - After one of the most prolific offensive seasons in program history, former University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse student-athlete J.P. Hatch has moved on to play in the Big Ten.
University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) first-year head coach Kevin Conry announced his 2017 recruiting class, which includes Hatch, who transferred to the Ann Arbor campus prior to the 2017-18 academic year from UM-Dearborn. Hatch joins 15 other student-athletes from across the country in the nationally ranked recruiting class.
"This class brings a lot to the table and touches on all areas of our program," said Conry of his initial class. "My staff and I are looking forward to molding and developing a great group of young men as we grow together as a program."
Hatch put together a remarkable season as a freshman for UM-Dearborn. He played in all 11 games for the Wolverines, scoring 32 goals and adding 11 assists, while picking up 35 ground balls from his attack position.
Hatch will be a sophomore in Ann Arbor. He is a native of Pasadena, Calif., and majored in Mechanical Engineering while at UM-Dearborn.
The Ann Arbor team competes at the NCAA Division I level in the Big Ten Conference. The program is in its seventh season as a varsity sport.
