No. 5 SCAD tops UM-Dearborn 17-11

BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse team battled back in the final seconds of the first half to cut a four-goal deficit to one against No. 5 SCAD Savannah before the end of the second quarter.

The Wolverines scored twice in eight seconds late in the opening half to trail 6-5. The Bees outscored UM-Dearborn 6-1 in the third quarter to come away with a 17-11 win at the Detroit Country Day Fieldhouse in Beverly Hills, Mich.

UM-Dearborn drops to 3-4 on the season with Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play set to start next week.

Leading the way for the Wolverines was Matthew Rosteck (SR/Commerce Township, Mich.) with three goals and three assists, while leading scorer Devon Callaghan (JR/Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) added three goals and one assist. Adam Ranck (FR/West Bloomfield, Mich.) scored twice, while long-stick midfielder Matthew Daratony (SR/Hartland, Mich.) added a goal and an assist. Colin DeWitt (FR/South Lyon, Mich.) and Ben Phillips (SO/Plymouth, Mich.) each added one goal.

Jon Chaffee (SO/Hartland, Mich.) made 10 saves for the Wolverines in net as UM-Dearborn was outshot 39-38. The Wolverines also controlled face offs 22-9 and trailed 23-21 in ground balls.

UM-Dearborn returns to action next week in its first WHAC matchup of the season against No. 7 Lawrence Tech University at 2 pm Saturday, March 31 at the Detroit Country Day Fieldhouse.
