UM-Dearborn takes OT win over (RV) Benedictine

BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse team opened three home games in four days with a victory against (RV) Benedictine College Saturday at the Detroit Country Day Fieldhouse in Beverly Hills, Mich.

The Wolverines took a 5-1 lead into the second quarter, but had to overcome three one-goal deficits before eventually defeating the Ravens 15-14 in overtime on a goal from Hannibal Roda (SR/Harrison Township, Mich.). UM-Dearborn improves to 3-1 on the season.

The last comeback from UM-Dearborn came with just 15 seconds left in regulation on a man up goal from Ben Phillips (SO/Plymouth, Mich.).

Devon Callaghan (JR/Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and Matthew Rosteck (SR/Commerce Township, Mich.) filled the stat sheet in the win, especially in the first quarter where they combined for three goals and two assists during the early Wolverine flourish. Callaghan finished with three goals and two assists, while Rosteck added four goals and three assists. Rosteck had an assist on the overtime game-winning goal, scored by Roda, who finished with four goals and one assist.

Jon Chaffee (SO/Hartland, Mich.) recorded 10 saves earning the win in net for UM-Dearborn.

The Ravens led 32-30 in ground balls and also held a 45-43 shot advantage.

UM-Dearborn hosts Montreat College at 8 pm Sunday at the Detroit Country Day Fieldhouse.
