NO. 1 CORNERSTONE PULLS AWAY EARLY TO TOP UM-DEARBORN MEN

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team closed the 2017-18 regular season on Senior Night against No. 1 Cornerstone University Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The Golden Eagles were relentless on the offensive end in the opening half, shooting 67.6 percent from the field, led by 20 first-half points from Michael Bradshaw. UM-Dearborn was unable to recover from the early deficit and fell 103-70.

The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 18-12 overall and 13-7 in the WHAC heading into the league postseason tournament. The Wolverines will host the first WHAC Postseason Tournament game in program history, playing the first round against an opponent to be determined at 7:30 pm next Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The Wolverines honored seniors Hassan Doghman(JR/Dearborn, MI), Ashton Curd (SR/Detroit, MI), Gage Throgmorton (SR/White Lake, MI) and Jason Penn(SR/Detroit, MI) in a ceremony prior to the start of the game.

UM-Dearborn was led by Penn with 13 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, while junior Mafiaion Joyner (JR/Battle Creek, MI) came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points. Sophomore Cody Kegley (SO/Yale, MI) added 12 points, while Throgmorton recorded 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and blocked three shots.

The Wolverines shot 29-of-66 from the field, 8-of-21 from deep and 6-of-10 from the line.

Bradshaw finished with 32 points, while Kyle Steigenga added 23 points. Sam Vander Sluis recorded a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds.
