WOLVERINES MAKE HISTORY IN 121-75 WIN OVER WARRIORS

ORRVILLE, Ohio – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team hit the road for the first game of 2017-18 away from the Fieldhouse, taking on the University of Akron-Wayne College Saturday in Orrville, Ohio.

The Wolverines set a program record for points in a game in a 121-75 win over the Warriors. The win moves UM-Dearborn (RV) to 2-1 overall this season as the team is set to open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play against No. 21 Rochester College on Monday.

The 121 points broke the previous record of 119 scored in a game against Nazareth College on Dec. 29, 1984.

The Wolverines had six players with double-digit scoring led by senior Jason Penn (SR/Detroit, MI) with 21 points. Junior Xavier Crofford(JR/Detroit, MI) finished with 18 points, while freshman Mathew Mignault (FR/Swartz Creek, MI) added 17. Junior Mafiaion Joyner (JR/Battle Creek, MI) had 16 points, freshman Chase VanderKlay (FR/Wyoming, MI) 13 and junior Mike Donatelli (JR/Ann Arbor, MI) 11.

The Wolverines were 10-of-15 from the free-throw line and hit 12 shots from 3-point range as a team.

UM-Dearborn opens the WHAC season at Rochester College at 7 pm Monday in Rochester Hills, Mich.
