NO. 23 WOLVERINES FALL AT MADONNA

LIVONIA, Mich. – Madonna University used an 18-0 run from the end of the first half through the start of the second to pull away from the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Saturday in Livonia, Mich.

The No. 23 Wolverines were able to rally late, cutting a 20-point deficit to single digits, but the Crusaders held on for a 91-77 win. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 12-8 overall and 7-3 in the WHAC.

Junior Mafiaion Joyner (JR/Battle Creek, MI) led the Wolverines with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting while adding eight rebounds and four assists. Senior Jason Penn (SR/Detroit, MI) added 19 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double, while sophomore Cody Kegley (SO/Yale, MI) and junior Xavier Crofford (JR/Detroit, MI) each added nine points.

The Wolverines shot 30-of-63 from the field, 9-of-25 from deep and 8-of-20 from the free-throw line, while outrebounding the Crusaders 41-39.

Madonna was led by Joshua Reynolds with 24 points and 10 rebounds. He added five makes from deep.

The Wolverines return home to take on Aquinas College at 7:30 pm Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
