MEN'S BASKETBALL WINS THIRD STRAIGHT

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team kept rolling in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play, topping Lawrence Technological University Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The Wolverines (RV) found themselves in a battle at the break, up 30-28, but a 9-0 run to open the second half put UM-Dearborn in control. The Wolverines pulled away down the stretch for a 73-58 win to move to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in the WHAC.

Four Wolverines finished in double figures led by senior Jason Penn (SR/Detroit, MI) with 14 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Cody Kegley (SO/Yale, MI) hit three 3-pointers to finish with 13 points to go along with six assists and six steals.

Junior Mafiaion Joyner (JR/Battle Creek, MI) came off the bench to add 12 points, all coming on four 3-pointers, while freshman Jason Gigliotti (FR/Hartland, MI) added 10 points and six rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 29-of-59 from the field, 9-of-21 from deep and 6-of-8 from the line. UM-Dearborn won the rebounding battle 29-27.

Alek Ivanovic led the Blue Devils with 17 points, while Tyrese Searles added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The Wolverines look to continue their run in the WHAC against Concordia University at 3 pm Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
