UM-DEARBORN HITS 14 THREES IN EXHIBITION LOSS AT EMU

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team played an exhibition game against NCAA Division I Eastern Michigan University Sunday at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Mich.

The Wolverines gave the Eagles all they could handle in the first half, hitting 10 shots from 3-point range in the first 20 minutes. EMU found a rhythm on offense in the second half and pulled away late for a 97-73 win.

Senior sharpshooter Gage Throgmorton (SR/White Lake, MI) found his shot, hitting six 3-pointers for the Wolverines, leading the team with 22 points. He finished 8-of-14 from the field and 6-of-9 from deep, while adding four rebounds.

The Wolverines started strong on the inside, led by senior Jason Penn (SR/Detroit, MI) with 18 points in the game on 9-of-15 shooting. Penn added a team-high seven rebounds. Senior Ashton Curd (SR/Detroit, MI) and sophomore Cody Kegley (SO/Yale, MI) each hit three 3-pointers to finish with nine points apiece. Curd had a team-high eight assists.

The Wolverines shot 28-of-69 from the field, 14-of-33 from deep and 3-of-5 from the line.

Elijah Minnie led the Eagles with 27 points, while James Thompson IV added 14 points and 13 rebounds.

UM-Dearborn continues exhibition play against NCAA Division I University of Detroit-Mercy at 7 pm Monday at Callaghan Hall in Detroit.
