WOLVERINES FALL TO LANCERS 73-63

DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team returned to action against the University of Windsor in a nonconference matchup Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

The Lancers took control late in the second half, using the 3-point shot to pull away late for a 73-63 win over the Wolverines, who fall to 1-1 on the young season. 

Windsor led 27-24 at the half and the team went back and forth after the break until the visitors found their mark from deep. The Lancers hit five 3-pointers in the final 5:28 to extend their lead. 

Jason Penn (SR/Detroit, MI) led the Wolverines with 18 points and nine rebounds, going 8-for-11 from the floor. After scoring 11 points in the first half, Xavier Crofford (JR/Detroit, MI) finished with 18 points, hitting two 3-pointers. Aston Curd added 11 points and seven assists. 

The Wolverines shot 24-of-53 from the field, 5-of-19 from deep and 10-of-20 from the free-throw line while totaling 12 assists and 12 turnovers. 

Mike Rocca led the Lancers with 14 points, including four 3-pointers. Windsor shot 26-of-53 from the field, 10-of-28 from 3-point range and 11-of-20 from the line. 

The Wolverines play their next six contests on the road starting against the University of Akron Wayne College at 3 p.m. Saturday in Orrville, Ohio.
