Wolverines roll to sweep of No. 2 Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team made a big statement at the national level with a decisive sweep of ACHA DII power Liberty University over the weekend in Lynchburg, Va.

The No. 4 (West) Wolverines rolled to a 6-1 over No. 2 (Southeast) Liberty on Saturday night, following that up with an 8-4 win on Sunday. The victories end the first regular season in program history for UM-Dearborn with a record of 19-2-0.

In the opener, Claudia Maguire and Brooke Spiegel each scored two goals, while Alexandria Robinson and Isabella Welke each added one. Odisoula Argyris recorded a team-high three assists.

Victoria Hahn made 16 saves in the win for the Wolverines.

Maguire scored five goals in game two to lead UM-Dearborn to an 8-4 win. Kim Primeau added two goals, while Argyris finished with one. Welke recorded three assists, while Spiegel added two.

Tara Peladeau made 21 saves on 25 shots for UM-Dearborn in the victory.

UM-Dearborn will now wait for the final ACHA DII rankings to find out if the team will make its first trip to the National Tournament in late March in Frisco, Texas.
