Wolverines sweep season series against Adrian

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team completed a three-game season-series sweep of Adrian College with a win Tuesday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

The No. 3 Wolverines got on the board early and never trailed in a 5-2 victory over the No. 5 Bulldogs to remain perfect at 9-0-0 this season.

UM-Dearborn opened the scoring with a first-period goal from Clare Murphy with the assist to Odisoula Argyris. Claudia Maguire scored her team-leading 12th of the season on an unassisted effort early in the second to make it 2-0, while Alexandria Robinson pushed the Wolverine lead to three just over two minutes later on an assist from Brooke Spiegel.

After Adrian got on the board late in the second, Kim Primeau scored on the power play with a second assist of the game for Spiegel to make it 4-1 early in the third. With a pair of power moves behind the net, Maguire banked the puck off the boards to an open Spiegel in the closing minutes to close it out for the Wolverines.

UM-Dearborn outshot Adrian 49-21 and was 1-for-8 on the power play. Tara Peladeau improved her record to 2-0-0 this season, making 19 saves in the win for the Wolverines.

UM-Dearborn returns to action against Aquinas College at 8:30 pm Friday at the Southside Ice Arena in Byron Center, Mich.
