Wolverines top Spartans to remain unbeaten

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice Hockey team remained perfect in its first season with a victory over Michigan State University (D2) Friday at Suburban Ice in East Lansing, Mich.

The Wolverines scored three times in the third period to pull away for a 4-0 win over the Spartans to push UM-Dearborn to 5-0-0 overall this season.

Odisoula Argyris got the scoring started for the Wolverines in the first period on an assist from Isabella Welke.

The teams were scoreless in the second period, but UM-Dearborn got the offense rolling in the third. Claudia Maguire scored less than five minutes into the final frame, followed by the first career goal for Brooke Spiegel later in the period on an assist from Alexandria Robinson. Maguire added a second goal with 18 seconds on the clock to lock up the win.

UM-Dearborn outshot the Spartans 40-16 with Victoria Hahn earning the shutout with 16 saves for the Wolverines.

The teams return to Dearborn for the series finale at 2 pm Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
