Three 2nd period goals lift Wolverines to 5-2 win

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team continued to roll through year one with a victory over Davenport University on the road Saturday at Patterson Ice Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The No. 3 (West Region) Wolverines scored three second-period goals in less than five minutes to take control on their way to a 5-2 win over the Panthers, a member of ACHA Division I. The win pushes UM-Dearborn's record to 8-0-0 this season.

Claudia Maguire added to her team lead in goals with her 11th of the season in the first period to give the Wolverines an early 1-0 lead. After Davenport tied the game early in the second period, the UM-Dearborn offense responded with three goals starting with the first of the game from Isabella Welke on an assist from Odisoula Argyris.

Kaylee Keledjian made it 3-1 less than a minute later, while Brooke Spiegel scored on an assist from Piper Keranen to give the Wolverines a three-goal lead. Davenport cut the deficit to two in the third, but Welke added a late insurance goal from Lexi Garbacik and Argyris with just over a minute remaining.

Tara Peladeau made 27 saves in net for the Wolverines in her first career start for the Wolverines.

UM-Dearborn returns home to host No. 5 Adrian College at 7 pm on Tuesday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
