UM-Dearborn takes home opener over Buckeyes

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team played its first home game in program history against Ohio State University (D2) Sunday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

The Wolverines earned a second win in as many weeks over the Buckeyes and remained perfect on the season with a 3-1 victory. The win pushes UM-Dearborn to 3-0.

Claudia Maguire got the scoring started for the Wolverines on a power-play goal in the first period, with assists to Kim Primeau and Kaylee Keledjian. UM-Dearborn doubled its lead less than a minute later with a goal from Primeau on a second assist of the game from Keledjian.

The score remained 2-0 Wolverines until late in the second when Keledjian found a loose puck in front of the net and put it away to complete her three-point game. Clare Murphy earned the assist.

OSU found a goal in the third from Amy Huang but was unable to get closer as UM-Dearborn closed out the win. Victoria Hahn earned her third victory of the season in net, making 19 saves for the Wolverines.

UM-Dearborn outshot OSU 39-20.

The Wolverines return to action against Adrian College (D2) at 1 pm Sunday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
