CHELSEA, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team took the ice for the first game in program history against Concordia University Friday at the Arctic Coliseum in Chelsea, Mich.

It was a night of firsts for the Wolverines as six different players scored their first career goals in the opener. UM-Dearborn jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the first period. After a scoreless second, the Wolverine offense fired 33 shots on goal in the third, leading to four more goals, giving UM-Dearborn a 12-0 victory in the team's debut.

The wait for the first goal in program history did not take long at all as freshman Clare Murphy scored just a minute in off a pass from sophomore Brooke Spiegel. This sparked the Wolverine offense as they scored four times in the first seven minutes.

Freshman Kim Primeau led the way offensively for the Wolverines with four goals and two assists. Senior Claudia Maguire had a big night as well with two goals and three assists, while sophomore Odisoula Argyris and freshman Kaylee Keledjian had two goals each. Lexi Garbacik also found the net for the Wolverines for her first goal.

Freshman Victoria Hahn picked up the win in goal, making 11 saves and earning the shutout.

Concordia University goaltender Teagen Johnson made 60 saves for the Cardinals.

The Wolverines return to action against Ohio State University Sunday, October 20th at 12:30 pm in Columbus, Ohio.
