No. 3 Wolverines top No. 5 Bulldogs 3-1

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team hosted Adrian College Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

Earlier in the day, the Wolverines were announced as the No. 3 team in the West Region of ACHA Division II, as the first poll of the season, was released.

The Wolverines defeated the No. 5 Bulldogs for the second time this season, scoring twice in the second period and holding off a late rally attempt for a 3-1 victory. The win pushes UM-Dearborn to 7-0-0 on the season.

UM-Dearborn got on the board first, scoring in the last 30 seconds of the first period as Clare Murphy found the back of the net. Brooke Spiegel and Odisoula Argyris had the assists.

The Wolverines extended their lead in the second when Spiegel scored her third goal of the season on the power play, with Piper Keranen and Alexandria Robinson getting the assists.

Kaylee Keledjian made it 3-0 in favor of UM-Dearborn nine minutes later as she put in a loose puck in front of the Adrian goal for her ninth of the season. Lexi Garbacik and Isabella Welke were credited with the assists.

Freshman goaltender Victoria Hahn made 16 saves in the winning effort for the Wolverines, as her shutout streak of over eight periods came to an end late in regulation.

The Wolverines return to action against Davenport University at 3:30 pm Saturday at Patterson Ice Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.
