Struggling Wolverines Lose at Cornerstone 99-90

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The University of Michigan-Dearborn (4-20, 1-15) men's basketball team lost to the Cornerstone University (15-9, 9-7) Golden Eagles 99-90 Wednesday night  (Feb. 1). Despite the close contest, the loss extends the Wolverine winless streak to six games dating back to early January.

 

UM-Dearborn Leaders

Senior Elwood Tomlinson led the way with 29 points, and Sophomore Maurice Anderson added 22 for the Wolverines. Junior Vyshonn Munson had another strong game with 10 points, with his team-leading six rebounds and six assists.  

 

Cornerstone Leaders

Cory Ainsworth had a game-high 30 points for the Golden Eagles. Luke Rowlinson added 16 points of his own, and Carter Nyp scored 12. 

 

Inside the Game

Dearborn battled back with a strong second half overcoming a fifteen-point deficit to get within four points of the Golden Eagles with just under three minutes remaining in the contest. Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Wolverines would come, eventually losing the game by nine. 

 

Next Up

Dearborn travels to Lima, Ohio, for a matchup with the University of Northwestern Ohio. Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday (Feb. 4) at 3:00 p.m.
