DETROIT, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-10, 0-6) men's basketball team shot over 50% from the floor on Wednesday (Nov. 30) at the Matthaei Center. However, they could not claim the upset victory over Rochester (7-2, 4-1) in an 89-85 loss.

UM-Dearborn Leaders

Elwood Tomlinson led all scorers with 20 points on 9-of-21 shooting. Bass Ollie added 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting and finished just one rebound shy of a double-double. Maurice Anderson was in foul trouble for most of the contest but would still record an efficient night, shooting 7-10 from the floor and hauling in six rebounds to go with his 18 points. Troy Campbell and Ibrahim Mohamed rounded out the scoring for the Maize & Blue, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Rochester Leaders

Anthony Cukaj led the way for RU with 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting. The Warriors bench scored 37 points, with Bralin Toney, Colby Wiggins, and James Fisher all scoring in double digits. Toney had a strong night, scoring 15 points and adding seven rebounds, five steals, and three assists. RU shot 47.8% from the field (33-69) in the victory.

Inside the Game

The Wolverines jumped out to an early 7-3 lead over the Warriors thanks to sharp shooting. Tomlinson drilled his first three of the contest off a Mohamed dime to give the Wolverines the four-point lead. The teams would trade baskets in the game's first 15 minutes before Dearborn would again grow their lead to four, capped off by an Ollie triple to make it 35-31 with 4:!5 to play in the opening half. However, the Warriors would storm into the half on a 16-4 run in the final minutes to take a 47-39 lead into the locker room.

Dearborn would chip away at the RU lead as Mohamed and Tomlinson both made baskets coming out of the half to trim the lead to four. UM-D would get within two when Tomlinson hit a jumper with 16:55 remaining to make it 49-47. The Warriors would grow their lead to seven with 13:50 to play, but a Ryan Len floater and Ollie turnaround jumper would again bring the Maize & Blue within four. Troy Campbell hit a driving layup with 10 minutes remaining to finally tie up the contest at 64 a piece. However, the Warriors wethered the Wolverine runs and continued to play from in front. Over the next five minutes, Rochester would go on a 13-2 run to take an insurmountable lead.

The Wolverines would claw back but would not get any closer than four points in the game's final five minutes, resulting in an 89-85 defeat.
